Empire Motor is a wholesaler of auto parts and car accessories.

Mr. Ueshima was elected as a president in November 1957 after Yanagida.
He was one of the very few believers in that "corporate success lies in people".

He came up to Tokyo from Nagano Prefecture in 1915 to join Empire Motor and started to study at night school after work. He was strictly trained by Yanagida during his adolescence, character-building time. He must have felt, in a sense, greater affection from Yanagida than his parents.

He was strict not only to employees but also to himself and never mixed official business with his personal affairs.

Meanwhile, he contributed to the development of the motor industry with his strong sense of responsibility and leadership, which brought him the Cordon of the Order of the Sacred Treasure in 1974, the first man in the spare parts business.
