No.17 Establishing Immediate Information Management

Sales items in around 1976 of the Empire Motor varied from small fuses to big car air conditioners, about 80,000 items in all. They were sold to 3,000 local distributors and car shops located from Hokkaido to Okinawa through our 32 sales network.

High technical know-how was required in order to make proper control of the inventories as well as to make quick delivery.

To comply with these needs, computer system was first introduced in 1969, followed by completion of nationwide information networks in 1977, which was on-line & real time network system through UNIVAC /1106 computer, which had been upgraded since then.

Such introduction of computer system contributed not only for rationalization of the company but also reliability from the clients thanks to the quicker delivery.
